Ranil Jayawardena visited the Department for Transport on the 9th of February 2016 to deliver two submissions to the South Western Rail Franchise consultation, calling for quicker, longer, better trains. As Chairman of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight All Party Group, Ranil has worked with colleagues from across Hampshire to fight for better services in our area. This consultation will eventually decide who runs South West Trains in the future.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer and Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government have outlined their vision for how the right homes should be built in the right places at the right time with the right infrastructure. This is timely, because a number of residents have asked me recently for my own views on local planning matters. I’m very happy to answer but, before I write anything else, I should set the context for my comments.
