Ranil Jayawardena and Maria Miller are pleased to launch the North East Hampshire and Basingstoke Curry House Awards, a competition to identify local residents’ favourite Curry House.
They are asking residents to vote for their favourite Indian or South Asian restaurant based in North East Hampshire and Basingstoke.
The winning restaurant in each respective constituency will then be put forward to take part in the National Tiffin Cup, a competition to find Britain’s best South Asian restaurant. One restaurant from every region will be shortlisted and invited to participate in the Grand Final cook-off event held in the House of Commons, as judged by MPs and guest celebrities, with the proceeds raising money for the charity World Vision.
Ranil said: ‘I’m proud to launch this local competition that celebrates our small businesses and helps a great charity. We have some fantastic curry houses in this area, so I’m sure it’s going to be a close contest!’
Maria said: ‘It’s certainly going to be a tough contest, with so many great restaurants to choose from! I’m looking forward to seeing all the nominations.’
Nominations should include the name and address of the restaurant and be sent to [email protected]. The deadline for nominations is 14th July, so get nominating now!
