Historic England is launching the second round of funding for “Everyday Heritage Grants”, celebrating working class histories. These grants aim to help out local community and heritage organisations to tell the stories of individuals and places often otherwise overlooked by history.
What's on offer?
Grants of up to £25,000 for larger projects.
Funding starting at £1,000 for grassroots initiatives.
Opportunities to share untold stories about our local heritage.
I love local history and learning more about the area in which we live. It isn't just about grand Castles and historic cathedrals, though they are fabulous. It's about our pubs, clubs, and the homes in which some of our neighbours live too. These grants will help bring these stories to life, providing us all with a deeper connection to our community's past.
Last year, 57 projects across England received funding and left lasting legacies. For instance, in Surrey, the Friends of Horton Cemetery commemorated psychiatric patients buried without recognition. In West Sussex, Littlehampton Town Football Club celebrated its 125th anniversary through oral histories and shared stories.
This initiative is about pride in our local heritage and provides local opportunities for local people.
Applications opened on 7th September and close on 7th November. If you’re involved with a local organisation that could benefit, don't miss this chance for support to uncover hidden histories and celebrate our heritage!
