GETTING YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
I met Claire Mann, Managing Director of South Western Railway to make sure that she is aware of your views on train services at Fleet, Winchfield and Hook.
Rolling stock – the trains themselves – have too often been in the wrong places due to strikes and train breakdowns. And trains that don’t stop at their scheduled stations at the last moment have been a real problem. New rolling stock is coming to the network, which should mean more resilience when things go wrong, and South Western Railway have committed to better communication in future.
While the number of people using the trains have fallen since the pandemic, they are back up on certain days, so it is important that the railway companies provide the right services to get everyone to work, education or play. SWR will be looking at the timetable closely to make sure the balance is right and trains are lengthened on busy services.
The consultation on ticket offices has been extended to 1st September. The Railways have proposed moving their staff out from behind the glass in ticket offices, so that they are on the platforms. However, I have received some correspondence from constituents who have understandable concerns about what this means. SWR will listen very carefully to issues raised by customers in the consultation, so please find out more and have your say at:
