Happy New Year! I hope you had a happy Christmas with your friends and family. I’m firmly back in the swing of things here in Westminster, after spending the Christmas period reflecting on the past year and what needs to be done now.
2019 is an important year for all sorts of reasons – but I’m returning to work with a renewed focus to make North East Hampshire an even better place to live and to do all I can to help you live a good life. In this column I thought I’d provide an update and overview on the areas I’m focusing in my work as your elected Member of Parliament.
My plan – our plan – is actually quite simple. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. We can take the best practice from elsewhere in Hampshire and across the country and make it happen for our community.
We will secure a better future for our area – North East Hampshire – by delivering:
- A new school for north Hampshire
- Revitalisation and regeneration for our retail centres
- Faster, longer, better trains
- Better roads for everyone
- Local services that keep our area greener, cleaner and safer
- £20bn extra for the NHS, leading to local improvements
Over the coming weeks and months, I’m going to explain a little more of what my team and I have done already, what we’d like to do now and how you can help make it happen. I know I can’t do this alone though. I need your help. There’s much to do – and this needs to be a team effort.
If you have views on this – or anything else for that matter – I’m keen to hear them. Please do not hesitate to contact me, drop me an email to: [email protected] or pop along to one of my ‘Tell Ranil’ sessions; details on my website as always!
