GETTING YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
I've long said that people should be able to travel when they want, where they want, how they want – even when people have tried to shout me down – because I know people in North East Hampshire rely on cars to get around.
Too many parts of government – whether Nationally or in our Councils – have seemingly adopted an 'anti-car', 'anti-driver' position over the last 25 years, and I have been campaigning for change.
It is great that Rishi Sunak now agrees, so the Department for Transport needs to look beyond just LTNs and scrap:
Blanket 20mph zones, which stall the economy, and lose the impact of special zones where they are needed – such as outside of schools.
Changes to roads making driving difficult, such as where your money is being spent by local councils to make roads and junctions narrower – instead of making your life easier, it is being made tougher.
Slower motorway speed limits, such as the 40mph, 50mph and 60mph limits that apply on too many motorways all day, every day – when they should only be used where a car is stranded or there are actually roadworks taking place!
This is what the Prime Minister said in The Telegraph: http://telegraph.co.uk/.../rishi-sunak-on-motorists-side.../
