I met Farnborough Airport’s Chief Executive, Simon Geere – and Jo Franco, who leads on future flightpaths for the airport – to raise your concerns and questions about their proposals for an increase in the number of flights per year and a change of operating hours on non-weekdays between now and 2040.
I understand why many of you have concerns with their range of proposals that include increasing annual flights from 50,000 to 70,000 by 2040 to address growing market demand, raising annual non-weekday flights from 8,900 to 18,900, maintaining the current non-weekday flight percentage, and extending non-weekday operating hours from 7am to 9pm to alleviate congestion during peak times.
That’s why I put your concerns about increased aircraft noise, air pollution, and where the need for private aircraft expansion is coming from to the airport’s leadership. Your input is vital, and provides crucial insights that will guide their approach ahead of any future planning application – nothing is being decided yet.
The airport is still keen to hear your opinion – as part of their consultation, until 18th October – so I strongly encourage all those under the Farnborough Airport flight path to share your views with them.
