UPDATE: Toob around Dinorben Avenue, Fleet
I recently met toob with Councillor Steve Forster to talk about how they design their full-fibre network, and their plans for our area.
I was pleased to hear that when they design their network they do already take into account existing infrastructure – but where this doesn't exist, Toob seeks to determine the most appropriate infrastructure for the area. Sometimes this involves erecting new telegraph poles. And sometimes they make the wrong call.
I had many residents of Dinorben Avenue in Fleet and surrounding roads write to me to express their unhappiness with Toob’s proposed plans. After heading here and speaking to local people myself, I raised this with Toob directly and the plans have now been put on hold.
They’ve assured me that they will continue to engage with residents at the design stage to assess whether they will accept to the installation of new poles. Here, after feedback from residents, Toob will only deploy the network using existing BT poles and ducts for the upper section of Dinorben Avenue from Reading Road South to 48 Dinorben Avenue and no new poles will be erected in:
• Dinorben Avenue
• Dinorben Close
• Denning Close
• Chinnock Close
• Ridley Close
• Carthona Drive
As a result, Toob will not be deploying the network to the following roads either:
• Dinorben Beeches
• Badgers Close
• Grantley Drive
• Lawrence Road
