The recently published Unemployment by Constituencies report shows that the unemployment rate in North East Hampshire has decreased by a further 8.2% since February 2015.
Ranil welcomes the news that the North East Hampshire constituency now has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, at 649 out of 650 constituencies.
He said: “I was delighted to read that North East Hampshire currently has the second lowest rate of unemployment in the country and that this number has decreased considerably over the course of the year.”
This decline also bears resemblance to the national figures. The unemployment rate has fallen nationally to 5.1% and the current rate of employment is the highest since records began in 1971.
Alongside this, the average weekly total pay in Great Britain increased by 1.9% in the three months to December 2015 compared with the previous year. Regular pay (excluding bonuses) grew by 2.0%.
