As Chairman of the All Party Group for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, it's a pleasure to work with my fellow MPs from across the area for people across the area. One example is education. We all want the best possible schools for our local children. There's good news - 1.8 million more children are going to good or outstanding schools across the UK. Great news - and it's right that we should want all schools to be funded fairly too.
That's why Alan Mak and I co-signed a letter from the Group to the Education Secretary to support the gains that have been announced - a net gain of £4.5m across Hampshire - but to highlight the continuing challenges also.
I've raised the specifics with Justine Greening personally and am pleased that she has, as ever, been willing to listen to fellow Parliamentarians - as well as the public - so we all await the outcome of the formal consultation that closes today. What we know is that the government's agenda for education is genuinely ambitious for our children and exciting for our country!
