Ranil Jayawardena—Member of Parliament for North East Hampshire—today met representatives from South Western Railway (SWR) to formally submit a response to the SWR timetable consultation on behalf of local residents.
As part of the consultation response, Mr Jayawardena handed over thousands of responses from local residents in support of his campaigns to protect our train services, following Mr Jayawardena’s petition against SWR’s original timetable proposals which attracted 3,333 residents’ signatures.
Ranil Jayawardena MP, said:
“It has been wonderful to see so many local residents supporting my campaign – my sincere thanks go to all those that have signed my petition, returned my special response card and encouraged others to do the same.”
Mr Jayawardena continued:
“The strength of feeling is clear to see and I now urge SWR to continue to demonstrate that they are listening, by implementing their revised timetable and further improvements to protect the level of service for residents in North East Hampshire.”
