Our police do an excellent job of keeping us safe locally. The important work that they do day in, day out, keeps North East Hampshire one of the safest parts of the country in which to live.
Unfortunately, recent activity in certain areas is posing a threat to that safety. There have been a number of cases of antisocial behaviour and illegal activity, coinciding with the school summer holidays, with young people setting fire to hay bales in Hook and using recreational drugs in a number of places. Of course, I know it’s not just happening during the holidays. And, whoever it is, whatever the reason, it needs to stop. To do that, we need more police officers in our area.
I very much welcomed the new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, committing to recruit 20,000 more police officers on our streets nationally. This is good news, but we need to send a message now to make sure that we see our fair share of these officers locally.
I need your help to make this happen so if you, like me, would like to see us get our fair share of officers, sign my petition below and it will help me show the government that North East Hampshire wants more police as soon as possible.
