Ranil Jayawardena is pleased to be getting involved with two competitions run by the British Red Cross.
The first is the Humanitarian Citizen Award which celebrates the achievements of young people aged 25 and under in one of four categories: first aid, volunteering, community action and fundraising. Both individuals and groups of young people can be nominated. To make a nomination go to www.redcross.org.uk/theaward by 2nd August 2015.
The second competition is a photography competition. The theme is ‘Celebrating your community’. Humanitarian action often starts at the heart of communities, and young people are being asked to reflect this in their photography. All entries are to be emailed to [email protected] by 20th September 2015.
The awards ceremony for both competitions will take place on 24 November 2015 in the House of Commons at the Palace of Westminster to which all short-listed nominees are invited to attend, and all winners will collect a fantastic prize kindly provided by the event sponsors Canon.
Ranil said: ‘Every day young people do extraordinary things to help people in our community, and these selfless actions should not go unsung.’
