Having worked in the sector previously, it was good to meet up with the MCS Foundation and discuss how to make our homes of the future even better.
The MCS Foundation are advocating for updated Building Regulations, as they think it is possible to fit new homes with solar panels and EV charging points, to reduce future ‘retrofitting’ costs, reduce fuel and electricity bills and make new homes more sustainable. I agree!
Those are not the only ways to be more sustainable. I have long made the case for focusing building on brownfield land, to help build homes for first time buyers and downsizers alike, whilst utilising existing infrastructure and minimising urban sprawl.
